Signing Skills Coaches work 1:1 to assist students who use visual communication and have other disabilities. The Signing Skills Coach helps students develop the skills necessary to participate in the classroom. The Signing Skills Coach provides sign language modeling and reinforcement for students acquiring sign language and/or using it for expressive language. Under the direction of the classroom team, the Signing Skills Coach also provides support for a student’s BIP, hygiene needs and/or other attentional needs. A Signing Skills Coach may assist with other learning needs as directed by the classroom teacher.
