A Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing provides support to the student as s/he develops skills to fully access instruction and participate in the school environment. Focus areas may include; access to academic language, the development of self-advocacy, communication, and social skills, as well as supporting the student’s self-concept development. Support is also provided to classroom teachers and building staff as related to the needs of the deaf/hard of hearing student.
This service is delivered as DIRECT or CONSULT service. Please note: Any direct service should be accompanied by a minimum of 10 hours/year of CONSULT service.
